The New Community Music School serves children birth to age 7 at sites throughout the Houston metropolitan area. The teaching philosophy is based on taking children seriously, treating them with gentleness and respect, and identifying and supporting their individual talents and challenges. Classes taught by GIML certified early childhood music teacher.

Overture, our exciting traveling program, introduces children to folk and classical music, tuneful and healthy singing, rhythmic sensitivity, and creative expression. Overture includes two unique classes - Music Play and Recorder.

The songs and recordings at TNCMS come from musical traditions around the world and throughout history. Children enjoy our play-centered methods. Curriculum is based on music learning theories of Gordon, Orff, and Kodaly.

According to the publisher of Music Play, "Children are naturally fascinated with sound and movement play as they teach themselves how to function in the world. Moreover, each child born on this earth has the potential to learn music. Without early, sequential music development guidance, however, the potential for true music understanding and enjoyment is left underdeveloped among most children."
