CLASSES
Spring Semester: January 12 - May 22, 2009

Music Play class is taught by the only GIML certified early childhood teacher in Houston, TX. Children birth to age 5 sing, listen to folk and classical music, and express their creativity through drumming and dancing. Children experience songs in a variety of meters and modes. The children hear both live and recorded performances. The class emphasizes tuneful, appropriate use of the young voice. We use Music Play: The Early Childhood Music Curriculum. Teacher provides instruments.

• Cost of spring program is $250 per child (includes all supplies).
• Each class meets for 30 minutes, once per week for 19 weeks.

In Recorder class, children ages 5 to 7 learn proper breath support, tonguing, and fingering. They practice rhythmic exercises through whole-body movement and drumming. They listen to recordings of many kinds of recorder music. This class includes singing, ear-training skills, and beginning music theory. We use Jump Right In: The Instrumental Series Soprano Recorder. Each child will have his own instrument and book.
